Chesapeake Yacht Services

What our clients have to say about us...
Without hesitation, I recommend Capt Stan for your boating needs.  Our company  bought a Post 45 Sportsfisherman in Jacksonville last year and needed a licensed captain to bring it to Baltimore.  Our Mechanic recommended Capt Stan and I'm glad he did.  We found Capt Stan to be very knowledgeable about  boats, engines, the route, and the inlets.  He was professional, hard working, and very friendly. His boat handling skills were superb.  We lost the starboard engine (no fault of the captain) and had to make an unplanned stop in Carolina.  He gently docked the boat with one engine, 25 knots of wind,  4 knots of current, and a crowded Sunday afternoon dock.  We plan to hire Capt Stan again in the future to train new employees, and to pilot our boats when a licensed captain is needed.

We have used Stan Mawyers services as our primary delivery captain for the past six years. In that time he has run a great variety of new and used vessels, including new Riviera Yachts from 33 to 60 feet, and has always provided the peace of mind that comes with knowing your often million-plus dollar boat is in the best of hands. Any issues the boats or Mother Nature have thrown at him have been handled with calm professionalism and competency. Further, we now use him exclusively for both training new boat owners and as a referral for private contract deliveries. Stan is a consummate professional, a true rarity in the captaining industry, and we feel lucky to have come across him.

I have had Stan Mawyer provide Captain services for four years.  I move my boat back and forth to Florida for the winter and Stan has moved the boat from Virginia to Florida and back each time.  The boat is clean and in good shape at the end of each voyage.  I had a problem with one of the engines two years ago, and Stan stayed with the boat to ensure that it got fixed right and then continued with the trip.  He has certainly been the best Captain that I have used.

We are new home owners to Ocean City and wanted to get to know the area by water and entertain our family.  Captain Stan  picked us up at the Sunset Marina and gave us an excellent tour of the area and the hot spots in OC to eat and drink.  We were so pleased that we have used Captain Stan 3 different occasions and plan to do more.  His knowledge of the area and entertaining commentary add greatly to the tour and I want to give a resounding  A ++ to this service

I highly recommend Chesapeake Yacht Services.  I have used Stan for Boating Lessons, Consultation (regarding boat purchase), and Yacht Transport. Once you work with Stan, he will always take your call, or return your email should you need a question answered or to ask his advice for a mechanic or other vendor.

My first boat was a 35’ Express. I had no experience, and “did not know what I didn’t know.” Stan taught me everything: Safety, Engines/Systems, Docking, Anchoring and Kedging, Man Over Board, Radar, Navigation, Charting Courses by hand, proper VHF techniques, boating etiquette, knots/ line handling, basic maintenance, etc. After a few trips with Stan, I was able to handle my boat safely and confidently. I was amazed at how much more I knew about boat handling than more experienced boaters. Let Stan teach you, and you’ll enjoy boating much more.

When it came time to upgrade to a larger boat, Stan helped me again. He consulted with me, along with my broker, and provided invaluable assistance as we shopped for boats. We bought my current boat, a 47’ Riviera Convertible, from Ft Lauderdale. Stan, my brother, and I brought it back from there.  I had the time of my life. We flew to Ft. Lauderdale to bring my boat back. Believe it or not, we had mechanical issues from the start, and too many to mention here. But Stan is a “get your hands dirty” kind of man. Between his tools and his brain, and his contacts up and down the Intra Coastal Waterway, he was able to get all repairs made—as issues popped up. He is not lazy, and his personality is to get things done properly. And everyone on the Chesapeake and along the ICW knows him. The boat was much larger than my old boat, and quite intimidating for me. When we left the dock, I said “Go ahead Stan, I’ll take it later.” Alas, Stan said, “You know the drill,” and I took the helm. “You can do it, just trust what you know,” he said. So I learned quickly. I don’t know if bigger boats are easier to drive than smaller, but for me, I say yes. Absolutely, my 47’ boat is much easier to dock than my 35’. But I had Stan show me the way!

Stan,
I have been very satisfied with your services in delivering our Riviera 45 Flybridge to and from South Florida. We have called on you with short notice, and you have been prompt and efficient in moving the boat along its journey. The boat has always been left in excellent condition. You are obviously gentle with the machinery, having had no mechanical problems while running our boat. The arrangement you make for paying for fuel out of your pocket, and then billing me for it, along with your services,is a great convenience. I have found your own charges for your services very reasonable. You get my highest recommendation as a delivery captain, and I look forward to using your services again soon.

Sincerely,

Preston

Dear Stan:

Just wanted to drop you a line thanking you for the very professional job you did transporting my yacht from Georgetown, Maryland to the Jordan Point Yacht Haven in Hopewell, Virginia and then transporting it back to Georgetown Yacht Basin.

Your competence as a Captain and your navigational skills, plus your overall knowledge of the systems of my yacht were very comforting and very helpful to me.

I'll keep your number handy for any future needs I may have.

Sincerely,

David Bogese
